Could UE5 Be The Push VR Needs?

Epic just released this tech demo for UE5 this morning.

The new system is boasting hundreds of trillions of tris in a single scene without the performance tanks those counts bring to today's engine UE4. Heck, those counts would kill UE4. It's got a lot of artist oriented features like raw asset importation as well, and a new dynamic lighting system, but what I'm really interested in is what this means for VR. Currently VR has to delicately balance Performance and visuals, it requires a frame rate or above 90 fps to prevent users from getting nauseous. with the high demand on performance developers have to sacrifice asset quality to make it playable. One of the factors is triangle count. this demo maintains that a PS5, which we have yet to see the specs of, can run the trillion-tri-large demo reliably. while the tech inside the ps5 is not yet known, it could mean that a mid-range pc is enough to get the same results, and higher end PCs would breeze through what was impossible yesterday. UE5 is set to be released mid-2021 so we'll have to see exactly what it brings when it comes, but for now I have high hopes that realistic VR is coming a lot sooner than I previously thought.
